How to use the Images to PDF tool
- Choose your images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP) or drag them in. Add more whenever you like.
- Drag the thumbnails, or use the arrows, so the pictures are in the order the pages should appear.
- Pick a page size (A4, US Letter or the exact size of each image), a margin and an orientation.
- Press Create PDF and download it. Your page settings are remembered for next time.
Worked example: one 1200 x 800 screenshot
You add a single PNG screenshot that is 1200 pixels wide and 800 pixels tall.
- With Same size as each image and no margin, the page is 900 x 600 points (12.5 x 8.33 inches). The tool counts 96 pixels per inch, so each pixel is 0.75 points.
- With a small margin of 18 points, the page grows to 936 x 636 points and the picture sits inside a white border.
- With A4 and automatic orientation, the wide picture gets a landscape A4 page of 841.89 x 595.28 points, and the screenshot is scaled down to fit inside the margin, centred.
The download is named images.pdf.
Page size, margin and orientation
A4 and Letter make printable documents: each image is scaled to fit inside the page, centred, with its proportions kept. With automatic orientation a landscape photo gets a landscape page and a portrait photo a portrait page, so nothing is shrunk unnecessarily. Same size as each image creates a page that exactly matches the picture (at 96 pixels per inch), which is best for screenshots and when you do not want white borders. Margins add white space around the picture inside the page.
Quality and phone photos
JPG and PNG files are embedded as they are, without recompression, so quality is identical to the original. Photos taken on a phone often store a hidden rotation flag instead of rotating the pixels; this tool reads it and straightens those pictures so they appear upright. WebP, GIF and BMP files are converted to PNG by your browser first. HEIC photos from iPhones cannot be decoded by most browsers, so convert them to JPG before adding them. Transparent PNG areas stay transparent over the white page.
Your files stay on your device
Images are decoded and placed on PDF pages by your own browser. Thumbnails use temporary local links to the files on your device, and the finished PDF is built in a background worker. None of your pictures are uploaded anywhere, which matters for photos of documents, IDs and receipts.
Frequently asked questions
Which image formats are supported?
JPG and PNG are embedded directly. WebP, GIF and BMP are converted by your browser. HEIC is not supported by most browsers; convert it to JPG first.
Will my images lose quality?
JPG and PNG are stored in the PDF without recompression. Only converted formats and rotated phone photos are re-encoded, at high quality.
How do I put several images on one page?
This tool places one image per page. For collages, arrange the images in an image editor first and add the result here.
Why is the PDF larger than my images?
Embedded images keep their original data, so the PDF is about as large as the images combined. Run the result through the compress tool if you need it smaller.
Is the order of pages the order of the list?
Yes. The first image in the list becomes page one. Drag to reorder before you create the PDF.
